DEMOGRAPHICS MARKETING
Demographics analysis is important in any marketing plan whether it is traditional marketing or Internet Marketing. The key is to identify your target market in terms of key criterias.
The online world is a unique marketing environment because of the way people group themselves together. They tend to naturally group themselves into highly defined groups based on their interests. Finding where these people “hang out” provides a mean to convey your marketing message to them.
At IMSX we incorporate demographics marketing into everything we do because we consider it as valuable as the final outcome.
How to gather the data.
There are many methods of gather information from your customer. Some of them include, online surveys with incentives, registering for newletters or up and coming events, creating forums where valuable content is provided, the list goes on. It is a matter of deciding what is the best strategy for you and putting together a plan.
Key concepts.
The background of Internet users vary across the board, but there are some general concepts that remain true.
* Education: Users have a high level of education. They are smart and sophisticated.
* Income: Online users have money. Their disposible income may vary but they are in the average income group and above.(Needing a computer to get online gives this one away!)
* Location: Because China is still a developing country, the majority of Internet access clusters around city centers. Moving away from the city center the infrastructure is either in the planning stage or early implementation stage.
Because of our “customer comes first” mentality, the demographic profile of users in China are always at the forefront of our planning and decision making process.
